Quirky Monster Fun

Hello! It is a rather odd day today as the weather does not know whether it wants to be sunny or not. It is perfect for crafting though so I will soon be hiding out in my craft room.

I was lucky enough to be invited to be a guest designer on the Quirky Crafts Challenge

The theme for this weeks challenge was Monsters, I was provided with this great Dustin Pike Monster to work with. Isn't he fantastic? This theme was just perfect as my nephew's birthday happens to be in just a few weeks and it gave me a great excuse to make his card up ahead of time.

I've called on some fun, bright papers from MME to pull my colours theme from.  I've added a sentiment and some die cut stars and gems for confetti and this cute little monster is now ready to party!

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges

S for Santa Claus is Coming to Town

Good morning, today marks the start of another ABC Christmas Challenge. It is also the first card that I have posted in over a month, for more on the reason for that see this post.

It is my turn to host the challenge this week and I have chosen the theme of

S for Santa Claus is Coming to Town
so we want you to use an image of Santa, someone dressed in a Santa hat or mention Santa somewhere on your creation.

Our fabby sponsors for this challenge are:

I had a idea for this card for a few months now, funny then that it seemed to take forever to come together when I finally sat down to make it. The card features a stamped image from Tim Holtz which for some reason does not show as well in the photo as it does when you look at the real thing.

I have just ordered a couple of new holiday pads and I will be excitedly awaiting their arrival but for this card, the background papers are a combination of Basic Grey and Making Memories that were tucked away in my stash. It was the embellishments that gave me my struggle. I knew that I wanted to use some of Tim's ideology bits and a bow but finding just the right ribbon and making it sit just so was a challenge that I just had not planned on. In the end, I am happy with the way that this card turned out and will lookf forward to using this image again on another project.

I hope that you will join us for our challenge. We do look forward to visiting your blogs and seeing your wonderful creations. Before you head off to start crafting, be sure to stop by the Challenge Blog and see the rest of the fantastic DT inspiration.

A Memory in Our Hearts

It has been over a month since my last post. I'm back again but before I post any cards I thought that I would explain where I have been. In my last post I mentioned that my father was in the hospital. Unfortunately after a hard fought year long battle with cancer, Dad passed away on August 31st. We will miss him greatly but take some comfort knowing that he is no longer suffering. dad had a good life up until the last year and we have many happy memories to hold in our hearts.

Dad was a wonderful crafter too. He spent many year refinishing furniture, and turning things on the lathe but in the later years of his life became a wonderful chipcarver. He didn't have a blog but if you pop over to my Mom's blog you will be able to enjoy some wonderful examples of his work.
